Kazakhstan strengthens control measures at borders due to monkeypox
AKIPRESS.COM – The authorities of Kazakhstan have strengthened control measures at the borders, including airports, due to monkeypox. Particular attention will be paid to citizens arriving from countries where monkeypox cases have been registered, Zakon.kz reports.
No monkeypox cases have been recorded in Kazakhstan to date, the Ministry of Health reported. The measures taken at the sanitary and quarantine facilities will reduce the risks of importing the disease into the country.
The Ministry of Health asks citizens to avoid contact with infected people and wild animals, use protective clothing and gloves when in contact with animals or their products, and regularly wash their hands and use disinfectants.
It is also not recommended to visit countries where cases of monkeypox have already been recorded.
The World Health Organization declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on August 15, 2024.
