Man suspected of starting fire at Admiralty Link void deck that burnt bicycles, PMAs arrested
SINGAPORE: A 41-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly setting a fire at the void deck of an Admirality Link residential block, the police said on Saturday (Aug 17).
Eight bicycles and three Personal Mobility Aids (PMAs) were burnt in the fire. The police were alerted to the incident at about 2.10am on Aug 15.
The identity of the suspect was established through follow-up investigations and police camera footage, and he was arrested on Aug 16.
A lighter and a box of fire starters which were purportedly used to commit the offence were seized as case exhibits.
The man will be charged in court on Aug 17 with the offence of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage. If found guilty, he can be jailed for up to seven years and be fined.
The police added they have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
