Sisi, Biden determined to de-escalate tension, restore regional peace, security
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call Tuesday evening from US President Joe Biden during which they discussed regional developments and the tensions in the Middle East.
The two presidents reviewed the latest developments in the joint Egyptian-US-Qatari efforts to cease fire in the Gaza Strip, and stressed their determination to continue efforts to de-escalate the crisis and restore regional peace and security, the presidential spokesperson said.
The call addressed current concerns regarding the widening of the scope of the conflict in the region, as Sisi stressed the Egyptian vision regarding the seriousness of the repercussions resulting from the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip and its negative impact on regional stability.
Reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza is key to restoring calm and stability in the region, they agreed.
At the end of the call, the two leaders said they would continue joint intensive contacts to achieve a ceasefire and to implement the two-state solution, as it is the main guarantee for realizing stability and security for all peoples of the Middle East region.
