The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) held a networking forum in New York on Monday, in partnership with the Chinese consulate and other trade organizations.
The event brought together over 300 representatives from Chinese and American companies and business associations. This gathering is part of the consulate’s ongoing efforts to enhance trade opportunities and foster stronger economic ties between the two countries.
Ren Hongbin, chairman of the CCPIT, emphasized that economic and trade cooperation has been a key aspect of China-U.S. relations and has significantly deepened over the 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
“China and the U.S. have strong economic complementarities and deeply intertwined interests,” Ren said, adding that enhancing supply chain cooperation between the two countries helps maintain the stability and efficiency of global industrial and supply chains, contributing to economic growth both domestically and internationally.
“The common interests between China and the U.S. are increasing instead of decreasing,” he said. In traditional sectors like trade and agriculture, as well as in emerging fields like climate change and artificial intelligence, companies from both countries have shared interests and ample opportunities for cooperation, he noted.
These sentiments were echoed by other attendees, who emphasized the mutual benefits of continued cooperation. John Wang, president of the Asian American Business Development Center, expressed optimism about the future of China-U.S. economic relations.
“Our continued partnership will not only enhance bilateral relations but will also contribute to global economic stability and growth,” Wang said.

Adding to the discussion, Declan Daly, chief operating officer of the United States Council for International Business, noted the benefits that improved China-U.S. relations have brought to companies in both countries. He expressed the council’s willingness to deepen cooperation with the CCPIT and its branches to help build a more open and inclusive market.
Huang Ping, the Chinese consul general in New York, said that China will continue to open its vast market to global companies and that American businesses are being encouraged to leverage platforms like the China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo. He emphasized that these efforts aim to strengthen pragmatic cooperation and provide a strong boost to the stable development of China-U.S. relations.
In a similar vein, Peter Tichansky, president and CEO of the Business Council for International Understanding, noted that China has recently introduced over 300 reform measures, creating significant opportunities for cooperation between China and the U.S. in areas like innovation, energy transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and trade.
“We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and working together to foster a safer and more prosperous world,” he said.
