Azerbaijan and UN discuss implementation of sustainable development goals

Azerbaijan and the United Nations (UN) have engaged in discussions regarding the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Ministry of Economy reported that Deputy Minister of Economy, Sahib Mammadov, held a meeting with the Regional Director of the UN Development Coordination Office for Europe and Central Asia, Gwi-Yeop Son.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on various topics, including the implementation of the SDGs at the national level, food security, human capital, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. They also discussed effective partnership opportunities between Azerbaijan and the UN in these areas.

The UN Country Office’s support was acknowledged in the preparation of Azerbaijan’s fourth Voluntary National Review, which was presented at the UN High-level Political Forum in July.

The office also played a role in the implementation of the Framework Document on Sustainable Development Cooperation between the United Nations and Azerbaijan for 2021-2025 and collaboration during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
