Digital transformation in agro sector reviewed
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk have reviewed work progress in digital transformation projects in the agriculture sector.
Key topics included the automation of agricultural holdings, issuance of the farmer’s card, and the development of the ministry’s information portal.
The meeting also addressed digitisation of the General Authority for Reconstruction Projects and Agricultural Development, and the inventory and management of the ministry’s assets.
A key topic on the agenda was the “Hudhud” smart assistant project, designed to provide farmers with digital content and guidance on various agricultural issues, in addition to acrop composition projectfor utilising artificial intelligence and satellite imagery, to map agricultural land, forecast crop yields, and monitor pests.
Minister Talaat emphasised the ministry’s efforts to expand digital services, leveraging modern technologies like AI. He also discussed building a digital interactive agricultural map and enhancing the “Hudhud” project to support dynamic agricultural guidance.
For his part, Farouk underscored the significance of the collaboration in expanding digital services for farmers, including delivering agricultural information via mobile messages. The partnership aims to optimise the use of the ministry’s assets and support decision-making based on accurate data on agricultural practices and resources.
The meeting concluded with both ministers reiterating the importance of continued cooperation and regular reviews to ensure the timely implementation of these projects. Senior officials from both ministries attended the discussion.
