Roadmap to increase number of int’l university branches in Egypt

Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Ayman Ashour, held a meeting with the heads of foreign university branches in Egypt in the presence with several ministry officials. The meeting aimed to outline a roadmap for future co-operation between the ministry and the foreign university branches.

Dr Ashour emphasised the ministry’s intention to increase the number of prestigious international university branches in Egypt. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of higher education, provide outstanding educational opportunities for Egyptian students, and align with Egypt’s Vision 2030. It also seeks to bolster scientific research, foster innovation, and encourage entrepreneurship.

The minister explained the political leadership’s approval of the establishment of a large international student city in the New Administrative Capital. This city will span over 100 acres and accommodate 12,000 students from around the world. Dr. Ashour invited the foreign university branches to participate in this pioneering national project.

Dr. Ashour noted that internationalising education is a significant focus of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research. This approach aligns with the principle of international benchmarking.

“There has been notable progress in international co-operation between the ministry and foreign higher education institutions, including signing a major framework agreement for international partnerships between Egyptian and French universities to grant dual degrees in 15 scientific disciplines.
