Live: Taiwan braces for Typhoon Gaemi, ‘strongest’ to hit island in 8 years

TAIPEI: Typhoon Gaemi is expected to be “the strongest” to hit Taiwan in eight years, the island’s weather authorities said, hours before its forecast landfall on Wednesday night (Jul 24).

Hundreds of international and domestic flights have already been cancelled. Schools and government offices in Taipei were shut as torrential rains lashed the city.
