SCW Acting Secretary-General meets Foreign Ministry’s Legal and Human Rights Director-General
Manama, July 18 (BNA): Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, the Acting Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), held a meeting with Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting reviewed the Equal Opportunities Committee’s action plan and gender balance report for 2023-2024, discussing the committee’s projects, activities, and its role in promoting equal opportunities and gender balance among the Foreign Ministry’s staff, both domestically and internationally. Key gender balance indicators for women in the Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic field were also discussed, alongside outcomes of coordination meetings between the SCW and the Equal Opportunities Committee.
The SCW Acting Secretary General commended the committee’s efforts and initiatives, emphasising the importance of continued consultation and coordination on various equal opportunities topics, particularly concerning Bahraini women in diplomacy, and highlighting shared success stories.
Dr. Bucheeri gave an outline of the committee’s 2023 annual performance report, expressing appreciation for SCW’s continuous cooperation and support for the committee’s efforts in empowering women and fostering their active participation in all domains, especially diplomacy.
SCW Acting Secretary General also held a meeting with Dr. Bucheeri in his capacity as a member of the National Human Rights Committee, discussing cooperation on human rights issues and joint projects that highlight human rights achievements, particularly those benefiting Bahraini women.
