Bangkok: Thailand has commenced a new visa-free entry program for citizens from 93 countries, allowing them to stay for up to 60 days without a visa in the country, full of joy and fun besides work and study opportunities. The new visa policy new aims to attract foreigners, boost tourism and make travel to Thailand more convenient for visitors from around the globe.
Thailand’s Ministry of Interior has updated visa rules s to attract foreign tourists and stimulate the economy, including exempting passport holders from 93 countries/territories from visa requirements for up to 60 days.
According sources of Thailand’s Ministry of Interior, the list of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA) at immigration checkpoints has been increased from 19 to 31 countries/territories.
Also, a new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) has been launched permitting the foreigners to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days at a time for tourism and remote work, with the visa valid for 5 years.
These updates include expanding the list of countries exempt from visa requirements, increasing the number of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival, introducing a new Destination Thailand Visa for remote work and tourism, and extending the stay of foreign students for employment opportunities after graduation.
Minister stated new visa policy will be effective from July 15, 2024.

The new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)
The Thailand Destination Visa (DTV) has offered a new visa category to grab the attention of remote workers and digital nomads in digital era. The DTV visa allows visitors to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per visit, with a validity of five years. Also, DTV visa program offers multiple entry, which means that visitors can enter and exit the country multiple times during the validity period of the visa.
The DTV program is for the skilled foreigners, digital nomads, freelancers, and those who engage in activities such as Muay Thai learning, cooking, sports training, medical treatments, seminars, and art and music events.
The following conditions are required for Spouses and legal children (under 20 years of age) of DTV holders.
Proof of financial support or guarantee of at least 500,000 baht for the duration of the stay.
The DTV will allow a stay of up to 180 days, with a visa fee of 10,000 baht, valid for 5 years. The stay can be extended once for an additional 180 days with an additional fee of 10,000 baht.
Improvement of the conditions of stay for foreign students
Also, International students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher on a nonimmigrant (ED) visa will have an easier time finding work and staying in Thailand after graduation.
DTV offer extended stay of 1 year after graduation for job search, travel or other activities, with certification from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
Thailand’s’ Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have reviewed and signed the four announcements, which were submitted to the Prime Minister for signature.
The new visa announcements will be published in the Royal Gazette, all measures will enter into force simultaneously from 15 July 2024.
