Ramallah, July 5 (BNA): Thousands of Palestinian citizens performed the Friday prayer at the Al Aqsa Mosque, amidst stringent military measures to restrict access to the mosque.
The Jerusalem Endowments Council estimated in a press statement that around 40,000 people attended the Friday prayer at Al Aqsa Mosque.
Sources in Jerusalem reported that several individuals barred from entering Al Aqsa Mosque performed the Friday prayer near Al Asbat Gate.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023, security measures have been intensified at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entrances to the Old City of Jerusalem. Citizens of occupied Jerusalem and Palestinians from the 1948 territories have been prevented from entering the mosque to perform prayers.
