Malaysia, Indonesia reaffirm commitment to justice for the Palestinian people

Kuala Lumpur, July 3 (BNA): Malaysia and Indonesia have reaffirmed their support for achieving justice for the Palestinian people and for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.


This commitment was expressed during a meeting between Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who is on an official visit to Malaysia.


In a statement following the meeting, Malaysia’s Prime Minister noted that they also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar. He expressed Malaysia’s readiness to work with Indonesia and Laos to ensure continued efforts for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.


Indonesia’s Foreign Minister shared Indonesia’s experience in leading the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which Malaysia’s Prime Minister said would be a valuable guide when Malaysia assumes the ASEAN presidency next year.


Indonesia’s Foreign Minister also met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamed Hasan to discuss cooperation in preparation for the 17th meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, to be held in Indonesia, and to discuss regional and global issues.
