Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson turns viral tomato meme into a real clutch
For a designer, inspiration can be everywhere. Just ask Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, who took a viral tomato meme and turned it into a real clutch bag.
A photo of a large, oddly-shaped tomato went viral on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) recently, when user @homocowboi reposted the image with the caption, “This tomato is so Loewe I can’t explain it”. The image has garnered more than 98k likes and 3.7 million views.
It also caught Anderson’s attention, who shared a screenshot of the post on his own personal Instagram account. Embracing the viral moment, Anderson then posted a video of a real tomato clutch bag similar to the one in the meme with the caption, “Loewe meme to reality”.
