Taiwanese writer was K-drama star Song Joong-ki’s neighbour on Japan trip

It’s not often that you bump into a celebrity, let alone be neighbours with one. But that’s exactly what happened to Taiwanese writer Jennifer Lai, albeit for a very short time.

Lai, who is based in Indonesia, was holidaying in the Japanese resort of Karuizawa when she found herself living next door to Korean star Song Joong-ki.

The actor was on vacation with his wife, British former actress Katy Louise Saunders, and their 10-month-old son.

She was so thrilled that she flexed about it to her friend, Taiwanese presenter Betty Wu, who in turn shared about Lai’s fangirl moment on her Facebook.

Turns out, Lai kept bumping into the star the next day during her morning walk.

As she didn’t want to disturb him, she did not approach him for a photo.

“[But] he kept looking at me. As if puzzled as to why I didn’t ask him for a photo, so I eventually took a photo with him,” she said, adding that the Descendants of the Sun star looks really young and slim in person.

“He also asked about the [earthquake] situation in Taiwan and sent his well wishes to Taiwan. I’m really touched!”
