A young art troupe from the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China is currently touring the United States on a cultural exchange. Consisting of around 80 students, the art troupe is scheduled to visit four U.S. cities from February 3 to 14, including Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Muscatine and Chicago, and take part in Chinese New Year celebrations.
Los Angeles was the first stop of the art troupe’s trip. On February 5, the students staged a lion dance and martial arts performance, a string quartet recital, and an aerobics show at the auditorium of the International Studies Learning Center in South Gate, Southern California, and had exchanges with American students and teachers.
The Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Guo Shaochun said during the event that the future of China-U.S. relations lied in the youth, and he expressed the hope that young people from both nations would converse and interact, and serve as goodwill ambassadors between the two countries and two peoples.
