A Lufthansa flight was forced to divert on Wednesday after a severe argument between a husband and wife, The Times of India reported.
The superjumbo Airbus A380 was travelling between Munich, Germany and Bangkok, Thailand – a 10-hour journey – when the quarrel erupted.
It prompted pilots to tell air traffic control at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India about a “situation and possible unruly passenger,” per The Times of India.
An official told the newspaper that the wife reported her husband’s behaviour to the pilot, seeking intervention because she felt threatened by him.
The husband, a 53-year-old German national, shouted at his wife and threw food before ignoring pleas from the cabin crew to calm down, unnamed sources told The Times of India.
And he tried to burn a blanket using a lighter, the newspaper reported.

Both the man and his wife, a Thai national, were deplaned in Delhi and taken away by immigration officials and federal police, per The Indian Express.
The Times of India reported that Lufthansa was coordinating with the local German embassy, and deciding whether to hand the husband over to Delhi police or send him back to Germany on the flight.
Lufthansa confirmed to Business Insider in a statement that the flight was diverted due to an “unruly passenger” who was “handed over to the authorities,” but did not provide details of the incident.
“Safety and security on board for our passengers and crew is our top priority,” the airline added.
The flight landed in Bangkok about two hours later than scheduled, per data from Flightradar24.
