The 2023-2024 International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Freeski and Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup will be held at Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou, north China’s Hebei Province, from December 6 to 9.

Gu Ailing, who clinched two gold and one silver medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, will return to Zhangjiakou to compete.

Several other stars also confirmed their participation, including X Games champion Gaon Choi. The South Korean prodigy broke Chloe Kim’s record as the youngest X Games snowboard half-pipe champion, winning at age 14 in January.

Other athletes set to feature include Beijing Winter Olympics gold medalists Ayumu Hirano of Japan and Nico Porteous of New Zealand, with around 200 skiers and snowboarders expected to participate.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were comprised of 25 competition and non-competition venues in three competition zones: Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.

In Beijing, the majority of stadiums were legacies from the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, with the National Speed Skating Oval as the one newly built stadium for ice sports.

Yanqing, in suburban Beijing, staged 20 events across four disciplines, namely alpine skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton and luge.

Venues in the Zhangjiakou competition zone hosted 50 events out of six disciplines, including ski-jumping and cross-country skiing.

Winter Olympic freestyle skiing and snowboarding events were held at Genting Snow Park in the city’s Chongli District.
