China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Guinea in global affairs and jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries, said Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Tuesday during a meeting with the West African country’s transitional president.
During the talks with Mamady Doumbouya in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Han hailed the traditional friendship between China and Guinea.
He said both countries should support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests.
For his part, Doumbouya said Guinea attaches great importance to growing relations with China, and supports major initiatives proposed by China.
Guinea is ready to work with China to speed up cooperation across the board and take bilateral relations to a new level, he said.
Guinea has joined the “Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative,” a program that aims to seek greater complementarity between the China-proposed initiative and the 2030 Agenda. It was also the first sub-Saharan country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
