Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said on Friday that he doesn’t know if Jadon Sancho will play for the club again in the future.

Sancho has not been training with the rest of United since his public row with Ten Hag in early September. United lost to Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on September 3. Sancho didn’t play in that game because of poor performances during practice, according to Ten Hag. Nonetheless, Sancho posted on social media later that the manager’s remarks were “completely untrue” and he had been “made a scapegoat for a long time.”

According to ESPN, Sancho has not apologized for his comments.

“I don’t know,” Ten Hag said when asked if Sancho would play for United again in the future. “I prepare my team the best I can, I put all my effort into the players who are available. He is not available, so in this moment, he is not important, because he can’t contribute.”

United will host Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday night. They are currently 11th in the Premier League with two wins and two losses. The club will miss Antony, who is now dealing with allegations of abusive behavior towards multiple women, as well as Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Sofyan Amrabat due to injuries, in the coming home game.

“With fans it’s the talk, with you [the media] it’s the talk, but with the players it is not the talk,” Ten Hag said. “They want to perform. For players who didn’t have so much opportunities, they get their opportunity, so this is their chance to come into the team. So, as I said, we had a really good spirit, everyone is focusing on this game, and the coming games.”

It cost United 85 million euros (about $90.7 million) to acquire Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. He has made 82 appearances and scored 12 goals and six assists for the club since then.
