Indonesia to resume imports of live cattle from Australia – govt

[ad_1]

JAKARTA : Indonesia will resume imports of live cattle from all facilities in Australia after a partial pause in July due to a scare after a small number of animals were detected with lumpy skin disease (LSD), an agricultural ministry official said on Friday.

Bambang, head of Indonesia’s Agriculture Quarantine Agency, did not say when imports will resume.

LSD, which causes blisters and reduces milk production, is a highly infectious viral disease affecting cattle and buffalo that is transmitted by insect bites, but which does not pose a risk to humans.
