Four Chinese firefighters won the first silver medal with a time of 55.50 seconds at the 4×100-meter firefighter relay event for the Chinese team participating in the XVIII World Championship among men in fire and rescue sport in Istanbul on Monday night.

Ranking second among a total of 24 participating groups, this was also the first silver medal won by the Chinese team since they participated in the world championship in the fire and rescue sport. The Chinese team ranked 10th at the championship held in Saratov in 2019 and fourth at the championship held in Samarkand in 2022.

In the competition, the Chinese team, Li Zhiwei, Yang Zechuan, Pei Zhongwei and Wang Litian, had to complete four firefighting-related tasks on an obstacle course that tested their agility, fitness and firefighting skill.

The hard-earned silver medal also improved the fastest time record of the Chinese team in this event by nearly four seconds.
