Beijing: Chinese Premier Li Qiang, at the invitation of the government of the Republic of India, will attend the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi from September 9 and 10, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced Monday.

As one of the major summits of international economic cooperation, member countries should strengthen partnerships and jointly face the challenges posed by the current world economy and development and make positive contributions to world economic recovery and sustainable development, Mao said at a regular press conference.

China hopes the summit taking place in India can reach a consensus, display confidence to the outside world and promote prosperous development together, Mao added.

The 2023 G20 New Delhi summit is the 18th meeting of G20, a summit scheduled to take place in Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in 2023. It will be the first G20 summit to be held in India as well as in South Asia.

The Group of Twenty (G20) is  forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues.

Apart from host country, India, the G20 group includes–Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union (EU).
