A critical China-U.S. partnership during the Second World War is being commemorated on its 80th year.

The so-called Flying Tigers were a small group of American aviators who fought alongside China against the Japanese forces.

The group rose to fame at the time for its ability to inflict significant damage on Japan’s better-equipped and larger air force at the time.

And to this day, Flying Tigers are a symbol of friendship between China and the U.S. For its 80th anniversary, two Flying Tigers veterans and their families were invited to a reception held by the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.

CGTN’s Ediz Tiyansan reports.
